The Saudi education ministry has formed subcommittees to look into complaints by parents over fee structures at private and foreign schools across the kingdom, Arab News has reported. The ministry has warned private and foreign schools against imposing additional fees unless they have the ministry’s approval. “It is the right of any private school to demand higher tuition fees this year even if they have hiked fees in the past,” a ministry official said. “However, subcommittees at provincial education administrations are now striving to regulate fee hikes within certain parameters and guidelines and thus reject hikes without compelling reason,” the official said.
