The ADX General index joined the positive mood at the start of the new business high season in the UAE and closed 0.23 per cent higher at 5,082.72 points on Sunday, August 31.
Dana Gas surged 2.86 per cent to hit AED0.72. Abu Dhabi National Energy Corporation, also known as Taqa (Arabic for energy), plummeted 3.25 per cent to hit AED1.19. Earlier in the month, Taqa said it halted its operations in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq due to the deteriorating security situation in the north of the Arab state. The company suspended operations at the Atrush block and, as a precautionary measure, significantly reduced its staff there.
