The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or Dewa, has launched a tender for the 100-megawatt Phase II of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to qualified independent power producer developers, Khaleej Times reported. Dewa said it had received 49 qualification documents through open request for the qualification process that was released last May. It has shortlisted 24 developers for the second phase of the tender. The deadline for submitting the bids is on October 23, 2014. The project supports the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the green economy in the UAE. It also supports the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 outlined by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to diversify the energy mix by 2030.
