The Qatar Exchange (QE) 20 Index lost 1.65 per cent to 12,562.54 points on Monday, June 16. Gulf International Services or GISS dived 1.83 per cent to QAR91. Earlier in the day, GISS said its wholly owned subsidiary Gulf Drilling International has placed a QAR193 million ($50.18 million) order with Superior Derrick Services, L.L.C. (SDS) for the construction of two new land rigs that will work for Qatar Petroleum under newly awarded contracts.
These rigs will take 10 and 12 months, respectively, to be delivered at SDS’s factory and are scheduled to be placed into service by GDI, following their mobilization from the U.S.A., in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2015, respectively.
