Massoud Samivand, the managing director of Iran’s Natural Gas Storage Co (NGSC) has said the country is set to become soon the second in the Middle East with highest gas storage facilities, Fars news has reported. “Iran will become one of five main countries in the world and second in the Middle East with underground facilities for natural gas storage,” Samivand told reporters on Saturday. He said that Shourijeh gas storage facility in the Northeastern province of North Khorassan will come to stream in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2014). “Sarajeh fed 9 to 10 mcm/d of natural gas to national pipeline in last winter,” he said, adding that Shourijeh will add 20 mcm to Iran’s natural gas storage capacity.
