Iraq says oil exports won’t be affected by state of emergency

: Thursday, June 12 - 2014 @ 01:34

Iraq’s oil minister, Abdul Kareem Luaibi said that any state of emergency in Iraq would not have an impact on oil exports, Reuters has reported. This comes after Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki asked parliament to declare a state of emergency after Islamist insurgents seized control of most of the country’s second largest city, Mosul, in the north. The state of emergency would not include Basra, the port for the majority of Iraq’s oil exports from its giant southern fields, Luaibi said.
