Kuwait National Petroleum Co (KNPC) has awarded a Samsung Engineering-led consortium a $3.8bn contract to build the Mina Abdullah I refinery of Clean Fuels Project (CFP). The consortium comprises Samsung Engineering (43%), the UK’s Petrofac (47%) and CB&I Netherland (10%). The $12bn Kuwait CFP project includes the Mina Abdullah I&II and Mina al-Ahmadi refineries. The entire refinery development project will raise its capacity to 800,000 barrels per stream day (bpsd), compared with the current 736,000 bpsd.
