A campaign has been launched by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Centre (SEEC) to encourage Saudis and expats to reduce electricity consumption and cut their electricity bill by 30%, Arab News has reported. “We want to make Saudis and expats partners in our endeavour to save electricity,” said director general of the centre, Naif bin Mohammed Al-Abadi. “This campaign, which will continue for six weeks, aims at enhancing public awareness on the importance of economic consumption of electricity by encouraging the elimination of some negative practices,” he said. Residential buildings and the construction sector consumes more than 70% of the total electricity generated in the country.
