Towards their commitment in conserving the environment, Muscat’s most popular retail destination – Muscat Grand Mall will be switching off all exterior lights on Saturday, March 29, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in support of the Earth Hour 2014. In an event organised by Oman Oil, MGM is the official venue host and is calling on all companies and people across the Sultanate to take up this modestact to protect the planet.
Adorned with glow sticks, staff from both companies as well everyone in the Mall will observe the 60 minute vigil from 8.30pm. Leading by example, MGM joined Earth Hour as a platform to showcase the commitment to reducing their carbon-footprint by continuously implementing eco-conscious and proactive measures.
Hassan Jaboub, General Manager of Muscat Grand Mall commented on the initiative, “Together, companies across Oman and the globeare helping to reduce energy consumption, not only during Earth Hour itself, but hopefully raise awareness about the small on-going changes that can be made every day. We are pleased to be hosting Earth Hour 2014 for the second consecutive year, in partnership with Oman Oil and invite all our customers to join us in this movement.”
Earth Hour was founded by WWF in Sydney in 2007 and has now been embraced by 7001 cities and 152 nations across the globe. And in 2014, Earth Hour will focus attention on one of the world’s most iconic and threatened places: Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Muscat Grand Mall, in line with their numerous activities towards corporate social responsibility often indulges in events such as these which promote the greater good to the community.
