Oman’s oil and gas minister has said expansionary activity in the country’s oil and gas sector will create the need for an additional workforce of up to 30,000 people over the next ten years, Muscat Daily has reported. “Over the next ten years we will need to add between 20,000 and 30,000 people to the workforce in the oil and gas industry,” said Salim al Aufi, undersecretary of the ministry. “The number is growing and we are looking particularly at skilled workers – those with expertise in electrical, mechanical, instruments and engineering. The challenge is to attract school-leavers to get them involved in training programmes and make them qualified to be available to work in this sector.”
