As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to cultivate a strong commitment towards the protection of the environment, the Operations Group of RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) embarked upon a dedicated environmental initiative, with its Qatari trainees, called “A Trainee A Tree.”
The Operations Leadership Team, Public Affairs Manager and representatives of Facilities Management Department and the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Group joined 25 Qatari trainees from the Operations Group to plant a number of trees in different locations around the Administration building in Ras Laffan. Representatives of Qatar Building Engineering Company and AG Middle East, the contractors of RasGas External Areas Upgrade project were also present on the occasion.
The tree plantation initiative was the first event to be held in 2014 as part of the RasGas CSR “Year of Environment.”
Hamad Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, Chief Operations Officer, who inaugurated the tree plantation programme, said that the employees would benefit from the eco-drive, adding that RasGas’ green initiatives are aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, pillar of Environmental Development.
“Our goal is to encourage a nature-loving generation among our national employees. Each tree was planted in the name of a trainee, who will not just plant the tree, but, will also nurture the tree by overseeing its growth as he too grows through the RasGas professional career development ladder,” he said.
A nameplate with the trainee’s name was placed on each tree. Al Muhannadi added, “this will create a feeling of “My Tree” in the minds of our trainees, and we hope that they will spread the “green message” to their peers, encouraging an environment-loving generation to support the State of Qatar.”
He congratulated and thanked all trainees, who demonstrated their commitment to protecting Qatar’s environment by joining the tree planting initiative.
