RoadSafetyUAE.com launches ‘Road Safety & Sustainability’, it’s most recent Topic #35 of road safety in the UAE, in conjunction with the World Future Energy Summit 2014 staged at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 20-22 February 2014.
The event’s purpose is to discuss practical and sustainable solutions to future energy challenges and experts agree, that the role of individuals in conserving energy plays a vital role. Practical solutions for resourceful energy consumption exist galore in our daily lives and especially with regards to road transportation.
The growing concern over future energy challenges, climate change and global warming has also put the spotlight on the role of road transport in energy consumption and atmospheric pollution. Road transport’s share of energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has been rising unlike that of other sectors.
The founder of RoadSafetyUAE.com, Thomas Edelmann stated: “Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are directly linked to our driving frequency, speed, driving style, vehicle maintenance, vehicle utilization and type of vehicle. With more conscious and resourceful considerations, motorists in the UAE can contribute not only to greater energy sustainability and efficiency, but at the same time also to increased road safety.”
“On our site www.RoadSafetyUAE.com, motorists can get practical tips, which they can easily adopt, for example: ‘Mind your driving style: avoid speeding and adhere to the speed limits; avoid revving up on short distances; display an anticipating, smooth and defensive driving style; avoid heavy breaking; drive at constant speed and use the cruise control when possible,” Edelmann continued.
Other tips in the newly launched topic refer to ‘Maintain your vehicle well’, ‘Don’t run your engine unnecessarily’, ‘Car utilization’ and ‘New car technologies’.
