Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) has announced the approval by its board to implement 17 new projects worth SR7.239bn in its bid to meet the growing demand for energy, Arab News has reported. The projects include new transformer stations in Waed Al-Shamal, Gurayat, Tabarjal, Al-Jouf and Arar, at a cost of SR2.34bn, said the company. Other electricity projects are planned for Al-Oqair, Jawatha, Abqaiq, Madhaya, Al-Khafji, Taif, Madinah, and Riyadh, SEC said. “The effect of these projects will appear by 2017,” it said.
