The Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) has awarded 10 contracts for setting up of six power transformer stations, two overhead link-up lines and purchase of steam condensers at SR4.06bn, Saudi Gazette has reported. Six of the deals include the construction of six electricity transformer plants, four of which will be in Wa’d Al-Shimal, Al-Gurayyat, Al-Jouf and Ar’ar in the Northern Frontier Region, SEC said. The fifth will be in Al-Khafji in the Eastern Province and the other in Al-Madhaya in Jazan. The plants are expected to operate in 29 months from the date the contracts were signed, the state utility noted.
