Dr. Ataç is Head of the Enterprise Management Development Section (EMDS) at the ITC and will deliver a presentation on Day 1 of GEM alongside Irshad Al Lawati, Managing Director, Shell Oman Marketing and Mark Hobbs, Founder and CEO of HH Consulting.
Dr. Atac holds a BSc in Business Administration, an MSc in Mathematics from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey and a PhD in Marketing from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Dr. Ataç has taught at UNC and METU, as a Professor of Business Administration. He took time off from teaching and worked as CEO of a conglomerate for several years. In that capacity he managed 11 companies including printing and publishing houses, aluminium die-casting and construction companies. Dr Ataç resumed his teaching career at Ohio University, University of Massachusetts Boston, ADL Management Institute and Harvard University Extension until 1989 when he joined ITC as Chief Technical Advisor. He was stationed in Manila, Philippines until 1996 and was in charge of several regional projects covering the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Ataç is the founder of the Association of Training Institutions for Foreign Trade in Asia and the Pacific (ATIFTAP). To date, Dr. Ataç has worked with training institutions, managers and policy makers in more than 20 countries.
