It is looking to expand its international portfolio of branded facilities which includes next year’s Ryder Cup venue at Gleneagles, as well as Mission Hills in China and courses in Russia and Turkey.
And with the Dubai World Trade Centre showpiece set to attract 25,000 attendees including leading regional and international investors, architects, designers and key decision makers, the exhibition offers an ideal opportunity to explore branding opportunities in the burgeoning golf market in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and GCC region generally.
“The PGA is actively looking for golf facilities in the region which are either in development or actual operation that will benefit from an alignment with the biggest brand in golf and will sit alongside The PGA’s existing branded properties such as The Belfry and Gleneagles,” said Guy Moran, The PGA’s head of property and development.
“We know there are a number of fantastic facilities already built in the UAE, many of which are seeking greater access to the UK market as Dubai and Abu Dhabi increasingly become favoured destinations for golf tourism. Equally, with a growing resurgence in the real estate market in the region, the opportunity exists to associate The PGA brand with a facility currently in the planning or development stage, and this is an ideal time to try and find the right partner for The PGA in this important market,” he added.
“I’m hoping to meet owners and developers who share The PGA’s belief that a successful partnership can be forged by aligning commercially successful world class golfing facilities with The PGA’s globally recognised brand. This will enhance the facility itself and help grow and develop local golf and golf tourism to this region,” he concluded.
The PGA enjoys a long history in golf and has the distinction of being the world’s oldest professional golfers’ association, having been founded in 1901.
Its world renowned education programme is reflected in 1,600 of its 7,500 plus members being employed in 70 countries worldwide including more than 50 in the UAE while as trustee of the Ryder Cup trophy, and partner in Ryder Cup Ltd, The PGA also has international standing at the highest level as it seeks to grow and promote the game.
