These Emirati companies will be showcasing their latest technological and technical innovations as they compete with their international counterparts. Many governmental and official institutions and bodies, involved in the protection of environment, the preservation of heritage and the promotion of authentic traditional hobbies and sports, will also be taking part in Adihex, along with many Emirati painters, artists, and participants in a number of the Exhibition’s contests and special events.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), the Emirates’ Falconers Club, the Emirates Heritage Club, the Festival of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for Purebred Arabian Horses, Wathba Stud Farm, the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH), the International Fund for Houbara Conservation, the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter, the Al Forsan International Sports Resort, the Al Bahia Equestrian Club, Ajman Stud, and the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club are among the official bodies participating in Adihex.
The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex 2012) is organized by the Emirates Falconers’ Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region (Al Gharbiyah) and the Club’s Chairman.
The Exhibition enjoys the support of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, in cooperation with the Festival of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for Purebred Arabian Horses, the fourth edition of the World Arabian Horse Racing (France 2013), Wathba Stud Farm, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Abu Dhabi Investment Company.
The leading company Tawazun sponsors the section dedicated for hunting weaponry. The Exhibition will be held from the 5th to the 8th of September, 2012 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The Chairman of the Adihex Higher Organizing Committee, Adviser for Culture and Heritage in the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Board Member of the Emirates Falconers’ Club, Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, expressed his pride and satisfaction with this extensive and competitive Emirati participation, both by state bodies and private companies.
“This participation aims at highlighting the progress that has been witnessed by the UAE at all levels, and promoting efforts of heritage preservation in accordance with sustainable hunting and in parallel with plans intended to preserve species,” Al Mazrouei said.
He stressed, “The Exhibition is considered as an comprehensive cultural heritage forum, and a fundamental pillar in the strategy aimed at preserving the values, customs and traditions cherished by people of the UAE and the Arab region and internationally promoting a deep-rooted civilization that has been transmitted to many generations throughout long decades.”
The Emirates Falconers’ Club, the organizer of the Exhibition and an effective participant, was founded in Abu Dhabi based on the directives of Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May God bless his soul).
The Club enjoys the significant support of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region (Al Gharbiyah) and the Club’s Chairman.
The Club pursues its pioneering efforts in the region to preserve the authentic heritage of falconry and protect deep-rooted traditions, becoming, hence, an outstanding example for falconers’ clubs in the region and the world.
The visitors of Adihex 2012 will have the opportunity to discover a lively pavilion that offers several activities organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, and varied events that seek to give a more comprehensive understanding of the UAE culture and traditions.
A number of competitions in the Arabian coffee industry, poetry, painting and photography are also on the programme. The National Library of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism & Culture will have on display, and on sale, various books devoted to hunting and falconry. The Authority’s pavilion will include a section dedicated for children and their traditional games, a section for traditional handicrafts and a section for free of charge henna tattoos.
Since the first edition of Adihex, the pavilion of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has been annually attracting thousands of visitors from different nationalities and age categories. EAD’s pavilion offers programs intended for children to raise environmental awareness and encourage the preservation of species and creatures.
The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi is a government agency that is responsible for the protection of environment, the preservation of the natural heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the development of the general level of awareness about environmental issues.
The Agency is also responsible for the development of regulatory controls to protect environment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It provides counsel to the Government of Abu Dhabi on environmental policies. EAD also seeks to create sustainable communities, and protect wildlife and natural resources. It is also working to reduce the effects of climate change and ensure an integrated and sustainable management of water resources, and a good air quality.
The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH) participates for the 10th time in a row in the activities of Adihex. The Hospital is considered as the largest of its kind in the world with an influx of more than 6,000 patients annually.
ADFH can accommodate 250 falcons for healing purposes. It offers a unique opportunity of practical training for practicing veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary technicians and laboratory technicians from different countries.
The Hospital is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi. It has won numerous international awards in the field of tourism and quality. The Pet Care Centre of ADFH provides real and excellent care for pets thanks to its advanced veterinarian hospital.
The Centre also provides comprehensive services for pets such as care on behalf of the owner, domestication and dogs’ training. The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital has recently added to its facilities a Dog Agility Park to provide space for the training of these animals.
The Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund participates in Adihex within the pavilion of the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Falconers’ Club, and the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. This participation aims at informing the public about the activities of the Fund and encouraging university students and young researchers (of appropriate ages) to work in the field of species preservation with the Funds’ help.
Established in 2010, the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter for stray cats and dogs is managed by the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. It is the only veterinary hospital commissioned to implement special programs for cats and dogs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including vaccination, the implantation of electronic chips and parasites medical treatment in order to prepare the animals for adoption.
The Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter takes care of cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes to prepare the pets for adoption by the general public. The adoption of pets from the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter contributes to the development of animals’ welfare in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
