The three-day conference starting on Thursday as part of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2010 (ADIHEX) in Abu Dhabi has attracted over 100 experts from various fields connected with Arabian horses and racing.
The experts will be involved in panel discussions over two days and then take part in a day-long seminar as Abu Dhabi gets to stage the first-ever such conference on Arabian Horse Racing.
Mussallam Al Amri, Racing manager of Sheikh Mansoor said, “The visiting delegates will see how far the UAE has progressed in Purebred Arabian racing. In fact Abu Dhabi has over the recent years become the main focus of Arabian racing and stages some of the most prestigious Group 1 races including the President’ Cup race which is one of the richest event for Arabian horses.”
“Though we stage some of the best Group races we have also specialized in organizing races for smaller stables and that has been a huge benefit to new owners and trainers,” he said.
Meanwhile preparations for the first-ever conference which begins on Thursday are in full swing. Lara Sawaya, Director of Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival said, “Already over 70 visiting officials have arrived in the UAE and the rest are expected before the event. The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival, which is being organized by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage have been encouraged by the tremendous response to the conference.”
Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the ADIHEX Organizing Committee, Advisor for Culture and Heritage in the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Board Member of the Emirates Falconers Club, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage said the Arabian Racing Conference followed the success by the Purebred Arabian race series organized over the past two years.
“We are delighted to be able to announce that this is the first International Conference on Arabian Race Horses. This follows the great success of Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival on the Sheikh Zayed the First Cup in 2009, as well as the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup in 2010,” he added.
The three-day event, from September 23-25, will be held alongside the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2010 (ADIHEX) in co-ordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) and Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS).
The conference is being sponsored by HSBC Bank, Invest AD, Bonyan International Investment Group LLC and Areej Al Ameerat with support from Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2010 (ADIHEX) and Wathba Stud Farm.
