His Highness Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by H.E Hanif Hassan Ali Minister of Health, H.E Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid Director general of Dubai Health Authoriy and a number of local and international representatives and heads of delegates.
Following the traditional inauguration ceremony and the ribbon-cutting, H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid congratulated the organising committee for the success of DUPHAT conference and exhibition for the past fifteen years, as a continuing education forum and a platform for professional interaction and scientific discourse. His Highness also had a tour in the exhibition and explored the latest Pharmaceutical Technologies displayed by national, regional and international pharma industry. In addition he explored more than 150 companies specialising in medical solutions, assistive technologies, academic software, rehabilitation equipment and more.
His Highness was impressed by the continuous growth achieved every year, he also said that this tremendous turnout reinforces the role of Dubai as a regional hub for major international companies who are looking forward to promoting their products from Dubai to the Middle East and the world Market. He also expressed his gratitude for the organisers of REHAB for creating job opportunities for the disabled which help them to integrate in the society.
H.E Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General – Dubai Health Authority, said:
“The Dubai Health Authority is always keen to support all Conferences and Exhibitions that add value to the health sector in the UAE and the region in general. DUPHAT is classified as one of the major exhibitions specialized in the latest technical updates from the pharmaceuticals industry on regional and international levels, as it is recognized and accredited by the Dubai Health Authority and many international scientific organizations that serve the Pharmaceutical industry and its technologies.”
Al Murooshid also said that, “Despite the fact that the pharmaceutical sector in the region is still young, yet the local pharmaceutical industry in the Gulf is growing rapidly.”
He added that the UAE is almost a net importer of Pharmaceutical products.
He also said that “The Dubai Health Authority is keen to support all the associations that are working along with the health sector. We are also keen to provide and encourage training courses and continuous education programs for pharmacists, to raise the level of their performance.”
Dr. Ali Al Sayed Director of Pharmaceutical Services Department at the Dubai Health Authority and the conference chairman said, “Pharmacy is an evolving science and it is essential that pharmacists reinvent and update themselves with the latest research from the experts in the field. Therefore, DUPHAT Conference 2010 features distinguished pharmacy professionals from all over the world, speakers from USA, UK, Australia, Japan, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Poland, Spain, France in addition to the GCC countries and the Arab world whom shall present their latest perspectives on pharmaceutical science and technology.”
Dr. Ali also assured that the Dubai Health Authority has been continuously striving to provide excellence in healthcare. Its focus has been to deliver quality services to the society by providing the latest healthcare facilities of International standards. He continued, “DHA has implemented innovative strategies for patient education and considers the involvement of the society in its integral plans for enhancing healthcare.”
Dr. Ali AL Sayed said, “DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition is one of the largest events in the region. The conference includes 32 high quality lectures and sessions and 19 workshops delivered by 80 renowned speakers, whom are deans, university professors, consultants, and seniors from prestigious pharmaceutical associations that are covering a variety of specialized pharmaceutical topics. In addition DUPHAT includes 10 parallel Presentations delivered by outstanding speakers that shall be featured parallel to the Conference and Exhibition. Concurrent with the three-day event there shall be 98 Professional Poster Presentations and 69 Student Poster Presentations. Posters will be evaluated by a jury from highly reputed universities. The participants are expected to reach more than 4000 participant.”
DUPHAT is one of the largest pharmaceutical events in the region and the world specialized in pharmacy and its technologies. DUPHAT is also recognized by scientific bodies in the UAE and a number of international scientific organizations and associations specialized in pharmaceuticals and technologies.
Running in conjunction with DUPHAT is the Dubai International Rehabilitation Forum (REHAB 2010) which is held under the motto ‘Beyond Inclusion and Partnership’. The conference brings together international key specialists in the field of disability and rehabilitation to discuss the latest developments and updates in this particular field, while highlighting the role of inclusion which is considered a major objective and challenge.
Mr. Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of REHAB and Chairman of Dubai Club for Special Sports said; “The Dubai International Rehabilitation Forum – REHAB occupies a prominent position in the rehabilitation sector and has become one of the pioneer forums dedicated to the needs of disabled in the United Arab Emirates and the region. We are all working together on mutual interests between the associations and the disabled individuals, while supporting the needs of this category by providing them with opportunities of development and growth.”
Mr. Berregad also added, “Dubai Club for Special Sports is a strong strategic partner in this cultural event which assures Dubai’s key role in particular and the UAE in general in organizing key specialized exhibitions and conferences dedicated for the special needs and empowering them in the society.”
Since its inception, the REAHB forum has achieved significant growth in terms of content, exhibition space, the number of participants and the number of visitors. It is clear that the REAHB Forum has a positive impact on the UAE community, the GCC, Iran and Pakistan. REHAB is now the platform for all these communities and individuals by providing them with the latest updates on rehabilitation techniques and devices.
Berregad mentioned that REHAB Forum contributes in spreading the Awareness on the importance of integrating special needs individuals regardless of category, type of disability and gender.
Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani – president of Index holding and the Executive Chairman of the AEEDC and DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition said, “REHAB and DUPHAT emphasizes the integration of various elements of success, in terms of economic, trade, health, tourism which will motivate the country’s economy because of its great economic returns.”
“The event supports universities and scientific institutions in the region, and provides the latest research and findings in the field of dentistry and creates a suitable platform for discussions with specialists and experts, to maintain the scientific process in this direction,” continued Al Madani
Mr. Al Madani referred to the continued increase in the number of pharmacists participating in the conference as well as visitors highlight the major role played by Dubai as a host to the most prominent international medical conferences. It is expected that the number of visitors exceeds 10,000 thousand visitors for both events, which confirms the international status enjoyed by Dubai as a global hub, not only in economy and trade, but also in conferences and exhibitions that are competing for hosting many countries to support the national economy.
Mr. Al Madani announced that the number of Companies participating in DUPHAT is more than 300 company while REHAB exhibition hosts more than 150 companies specializing in medical solutions, assistive technologies, academic software, rehabilitation equipment, therapy centres and sports clubs.
Mr. Al Madani also stated that REHAB 2010 is the largest platform in the Arab World that includes number of workshops in which a large number of specialist doctors, nurses, educational and social workers and physical therapists are involved.
AL Madani stated, “REHAB Forum focuses on studying the disorders, education, and provision of treatment required in addition to many other related topics.”
He also expressed his keenness on the integration and partnership with the special needs in the society and need of empowering their roles.
