Japan anticipates major eco-business potential from the Middle East

The ENVIRONMENT 2007 Exhibition & Conference will run January 28th to 31st, 2007 at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre. It is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. ENVIRONMENT 2007 is the region’s leading trade exhibition and conference and is organised by Reed Exhibitions – Middle East and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.

Forty Japanese companies from the environment and industrial sector, including Hitachi, Nissan, Panasonic, Sharp and Cosmo Oil will present their latest products and technological advancements at ENVIRONMENT 2007. The Japanese exhibitors will be joined by more than 250 other companies from 20 countries who will also use the ENVIRONMENT 2007 platform to showcase their products to an expected audience of government officials and decision-makers.

Commenting on the participation of Japanese companies at the show, Mr. Yoshio Minagi, Managing Director of JETRO Dubai, said that Japan’s leading edge in environmental technology could contribute greatly to enhancing the developmental projects that the UAE and other Middle East countries are undertaking.

“Technologies developed by Japanese companies have great potential in combating the increasing environmental issues that confront the UAE and other countries in the Middle East,” Mr. Minagi said.

Products and technologies that will be showcased at the Japanese pavilion at the show will include those related to air pollution control, water purification and sewage disposal, power generation and desalination technology, solar power generation systems as well as fuel cell and hydrogen energy systems.

“With governments as well as the public and private sectors in the Middle East showing a heightened eco-consciousness, investment in environmental preservation, renewal and development are increasing exponentially in the region,” said Frédéric Theux, President Reed Exhibitions – Middle East. Participants at ENVIRONMENT 2007 can be assured of a strong platform to share knowledge, network and generate solid business opportunities.”

In conjunction with ENVIRONMENT 2007, a conference organized by Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi focusing on ‘Renewable Energy in the Arid Region’ will also be held. The conference is expected to feature more than 100 speakers.

The ADNOC Group of companies is the main sponsor of ENVIRONMENT 2007, with ADWEA (Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority), Total, Shell, NBAD, ADCB and Aldar Properties, as the co-sponsors.
