It had a high turnout and was represented by more than 120 local and international exhibitors.
The international participation beat all expectations with companies from more than 20 countries choosing Infra Oman as their first entry point to the most promising and lucrative construction market in the Middle East.
The expo was inaugurated by HE Dr. Rasheed bin Al Safi al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board Oman, accompanied by ministry officials, members of the diplomatic forces, media and top business people.
For the first time in Oman, JCB together with Muscat Overseas presented the world famous “JCB Dancing Diggers” show as part of the Infra Oman exhibition.
Infra Oman also had all the major heavy equipment dealers and brands participating in the exhibition, making the event the perfect and only exhibition to showcase their machinery, materials and equipment for construction and infrastructure projects.
Al Nimr Expo was also awarded The Al Roya Business Award for the Best Business Enterprise, for the Infra Oman Exhibition of 2011.
Infra Oman 2012 will be held from 2–4 October. It is organized under the co-operation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and supported by the Muscat Municipality, Supreme Committee for Town Planning, Oman Tourism Development Company SAOC (OMRAN), Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), German Near & Middle East Association (NUMOV) and Singapore Business Federation (SBF), UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Global Omani Development & Investment Co. SAOC (Glorei).

The expo will put the spotlight on Oman’s new five-year spending plan (2011-2015): As infrastructure investments continue to grow more development projects are set to be implemented in the coming years the Sultanate takes concrete measures to diversify its economy. The new plan foresees $78bn of expenditure, representing a 113% increase on the last five-year plan.
The major infrastructure projects coming up like the Oman National Railway, Muscat’s Port Sultan Qaboos converting into a full-fledged tourism port, transport and airport development projects, Duqm Development Project, Medical cities, Waste Management, Tourism and Residential Projects.
To cater to these above requirements, the exhibition will focus on Construction Requirement, Infrastructure Projects, Power & Water Technologies, Renewable Energy & Environment, Heavy Equipment & Technology, Transportation & Logistics, Industrial Equipment and other Development Projects. Special Sections include, Affordable Housing, Interior and Design and Building Materials.
Explaining the main objectives of the event, Melwin D’Cunha, Director of Al Nimr Expo, said, “Infra Oman 2012 is primarily intended to give contractors and developers an opportunity to present their projects and achievements while providing them with a one-stop shop for sourcing all their project requirements.”
He added, “The event is also meant to provide local and international companies the opportunity to introduce a range of their products, equipment, technologies and services to their target clients — the decision makers and top officials of companies in Oman’s vibrant building and construction industry.”
