As part of the campaign to promote locally manufactured products abroad, the Third Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX 2014) is all set to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates during the period from 14 to 16 September, 2014.

The organising committee for OPEX, which comprises the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, is undertaking significant efforts to organise this exhibition which will consist of 140 stalls on an area estimated at 4,000 sqm, informed Eng. Basim bin Ali Al Nassri, Director General of Marketing and Media at PEIE, and member of the organising committee for OPEX.

Al Nassri noted, “Around 100 local companies have already confirmed their participations in the expo, alongside ten SMEs and five handicraft projects.” “There will be a wide range of high quality Omani products comprising food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, furniture, aluminum products, metals, plastic products, construction materials, marbles, textiles and fabrics, leather goods, perfumes and cosmetics, fertilizers, agriculture, logistics, among others,” Al Nassri pointed out.

He added, “Dubai is on the verge of several giant projects that require large amounts of raw materials and primary products especially that it will host Expo 2020, which is being held each five years for a period of six months and attracts millions of visitors from all over the world. Furthermore, Dubai recently announced the project of Mall of the World, which will be the world’s largest mall welcoming more than 180 million of visitors annually. Moreover, the size of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and UAE has witnessed a significant growth during the last five years, making UAE a vital trading partner for the Sultanate.”

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, in cooperation with INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions – a member of INDEX Holding – are doing significant efforts to mark a success for this exhibition, and highlight and promote Omani products in the best way to open wider markets for these products in the UAE, which is recognised as one of the largest commercial markets in the middle east.

“In cooperation with the Embassy of Oman in the UAE, a press conference was held last week in Abu Dhabi to present details of the 3rd Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX 2014) and invite investors, business owners and related parties to visit the exhibition and get acquainted with the facilities and incentives offered by the Sultanate of Oman for those willing to invest in the country. Another press conference will be held next week in Dubai for the same purpose, in cooperation with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” he said.

During the exhibition, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates will promote Al Buraimi Industrial Estate, which is located in Al Buraimi Governorate, adjacent to the Oman-UAE border in the northwest on an estimated area of 5.5 million sqm. “The estate is sited on a strategic location near to the UAE. It is around 100 km away from Sohar Industrial Port, 300 km from Muscat International Airport, less than 40 km from Al Ain International Airport, and less than 120 km from Dubai International Airport and Port of Jebel Ali.
