Statistics Centre — Abu Dhabi (SCAD) stated on Sunday that the inflation rate in consumer prices for the first seven months of the year grew by 2.8% compared with the same period in 2013. The consumer price index (CPI) increased to 127.1 points during the first seven months of 2014, up from 123.7 points during the same period of 2013, Gulf News reported. The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ group accounted for the largest rise in the index during the first seven months of 2014 compared with the same period last year, contributing 38.4% to the change. This contribution resulted from an increase of 2.9% in the prices of this group.
