Finishing a three-day losing streak, the Dubai stock market index DFMGI surged 3.17 per cent to hit 4,067.67 points on Tuesday, July 1. Arabtec, the most beaten share since mid-May, was the most liquid security and closed 10.34 per cent higher at AED2.88. Emaar Properties, the biggest developer in the Middle East and builder of the 828 meters tall Burj Khalifa edged up by 5.83 per cent to hit AED8.90. Its local rival Union Properties dived 3.73 per cent to AED1.55. Trading volumes surged as well as approximately one million shares worth AED2 billion changed hands. Market breadth was neutral with 15 advancing shares and 15 declining shares.
