Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center has welcomed Tod Lambert as the company’s Group CEO. With a newly opened facility in Abu Dhabi, Cambridge offers specialized and dedicated medical care and rehabilitation services to patients requiring short-term comprehensive rehabilitation and long-term care for patients with chronic illness or injury. Cambridge is affiliated with US-based Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital and Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s leading diabetes research, clinical care and education organization. A second facility is planned to open later in the year in Al Ain.
As a highly experienced strategic healthcare leader, most recently occupying the position of Group Director Strategy and Performance Management at SEHA, Tod will be predominantly responsible for driving the expansion of Cambridge across the region. With his combination of international experience, as well as a strong knowledge of the Middle East healthcare sector, Tod will cement the position of Cambridge as a local centre of excellence delivering world-class standards of care. Prior to joining SEHA, Mr. Lambert was Vice President, Cardiac Services with Ascension Health for Saint Thomas Health in Nashville, Tennessee in the USA. He was the key executive to establish service line management across the hospitals and clinics associated with the St. Thomas Heart Network. Before joining Ascension Health, Mr. Lambert served in CEO roles with HCA, HealthTrust, and other large proprietary healthcare systems in the USA. He was the Chief Development Officer and founding member of UniPhy Health, which merged to become Symbion Health, a leading short stay hospital company in Nashville, Tennessee. He led the acquisition team to assemble physician group practices in five major markets in the USA resulting in an IPO within four years of start-up operations.
Dr. Helmut M. Schuehsler, Chairman of the Board, Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center said: “We are pleased to welcome a highly skilled, internationally experienced healthcare professional of Tod’s calibre to the team who can support our mission to provide exceptional care, in line with the significant demand for long-term care and specialized rehabilitative services in the MENA region. I am confident that with his broad knowledge, strong strategic background and highly developed local networks he will contribute deep strategic insight as we look to expand and grow the company.”
Commenting on the new role Tod added: “Cambridge offers a unique level of international standard care to UAE long-term care patients on a local level, who require intense physiotherapy and rehabilitation for a range of medically complex conditions outside of the traditional hospital environment. As we grow and develop according to the highest standards of clinical excellence, we look forward to expanding our sphere of influence to a greater number of patients in the future.”
Tod will also be Vice-Chairman of the Board of ProVita International Medical Center (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) a long-term acute care facility for ventilated patients, one of Cambridge’s partner companies.
