Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is set to start soon the transition from handwritten paper prescriptions to electronic prescriptions for patients who are insured, Khaleej Times has reported. The initiative was announced in January 2013, as part of implementing the Dubai Health Insurance Law of 2013. All healthcare providers and insurance companies in the emirate were given a year of voluntary use to allow healthcare professionals to adapt to the new system. The DHA plans to fully eliminate paper prescriptions for insured patients by the end of this year.
