Best of ADA (American Diabetes Association) 2014, in collaboration with Emirates Diabetes Society (EDS) and supported by Sanofi, took place in Dubai last week on 26th and 27th, June 2014. The two day congress showcased key findings from the Scientific Sessions, of the American Diabetes Association annual event which hosts over 15,000 healthcare professionals from around the world.

The Best of ADA congress is focused on providing new, relevant data and insights to enable physicians and healthcare professionals across the Middle East to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with diabetes and comorbid conditions.

Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al Madani, Consultant in Endocrinology, President of the Emirates Diabetes Society (EDS) and Chairman of the event added, “Six Middle East North Africa (MENA) region countries are among the world’s 20 highest for prevalence of diabetes 1. This is not something we can ignore. It is crucial to bring events like ‘Best of ADA’ to the Middle East to share the knowledge and treatment enhancements in the region. This is done through collaboration between EDS, the healthcare community, the public and private entities like Sanofi to improve the treatment and management of diabetes.”

Ms. Linda Cann, Vice President, Professional Education and International Affairs, of American Diabetes Association, said, “Hosting ‘Best of ADA’ in Dubai provides an important forum for the ADA, the EDS, and key opinion leaders in the Middle East to exchange ideas. Health care providers worldwide benefit from this type of collaboration, which is focused on best practices related to preventing, diagnosing, and treating pre-diabetes and diabetes, as well as developing more aggressive, effective physiological, psychological, and behavioral treatment strategies for patients with diabetes”.

This event was supported by an unrestricted educational support from Sanofi.
