In a bid to support the trade links between France and Bahrain, a French Chamber of Commerce and Industry is set to be launched in Bahrain later this year, Gulf Daily News reported. According to outgoing French Ambassador Christian Testot, an estimated BD500m in bilateral trade was recorded last year between France and Bahrain – fuelled by major projects currently underway at Bahrain International Airport, Alba and Hidd Industrial Area. The new French chamber would act as a launchpad for such investments, and is expected to open its doors after the summer following the conclusion of talks with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). “We are in the final stages of establishing a French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in co-operation with the BCCI, which will be a big asset for us in Bahrain,” said Mr Testot in an exclusive interview with the GDN. “The chamber aims to support French companies which wish to invest in Bahrain.”
