Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), one of the world’s leading centres for treating sick children in London, recently hosted its annual Eid party for children, sharing happy moments and the joys of this auspicious occasion.
Organised this year by the International division, a fun-filled party was hosted for more than 60 children, including over 20 young Kuwaiti patients and their families. The ward was filled with embellishments and decorations, the children celebrated together with hospital staff and enjoyed getting their faces painted and played a number of games. They were kept entertained by magic performances.
Commenting on the Eid celebrations, Trevor Clarke, Director International Division, at GOSH said: “Sharing the happy moments of Eid Al Fitr and other similar occasions are an integral part for us as we understand how important religious festivals are to children who are away from home. We hold an Eid party every year to mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr and it gives us a real opportunity for patients, their families and GOSH staff to come together to celebrate.”
Special catering was provided for the celebrations, along with sweets and cards given to all the families staying at the hospital.
One of the mothers from Kuwait commented: “GOSH organised a lovely event for the mothers to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, it was a very nice gesture from the hospital. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it was very nice to socialise with the other mothers and all the children had really good fun. “
