Lebanon’s trade deficit grew 31% in January

Lebanon’s customs department has said the country’s trade deficit in January grew 31.23% year-on-year, as exports fell to their lowest levels since the 2006 war, The Daily Star has reported. Total exports in January 2014 stood at $244m, compared with $405m in the same month of 2013, a drop of 39.753%. Total imports also rose by 13.79% to $1.873bn from $1.646bn in January 2013, the department said.
