MMAC Design Associates was recently chosen over several leading firms to create the F&B concept for all thirteen outlets at the forthcoming 362 key five-star Hilton beach resort in Salwa, Qatar.
This vast, three-kilometer waterfront complex will become a jewel among Qatari seaside resorts. MMAC’s design will set the stage for several new iconic restaurants to flourish on the Qatari dining scene.
The vibrant, young, creative team at MMAC Design has taken on the full F&B package including three hotel restaurants, two stand-alone restaurants, two pool bars, three beach shelters, a sports bar, and two exclusive lounges at this major new resort location. Mr Merieau, Founding Partner, MMAC Design Associates noted that “each restaurant has its own identity. Every outlet is unique while remaining coherent within the overall scheme.”
Indeed, the various venues all have a strong personality. Mercato re-creates the Dolce Vita ambiance reminiscent of the 1960’s Fellini film indulging childhood memories of homemade cooking by a beloved Italian grandmother. The Souk brings alive a Moroccan marketplace for an animated adventure through eight live cooking stations. Yuxi, on the marina walk, offers upscale Chinese dining with panache. The two-meter crystal dragon protects a central, private dining area surrounded by smaller enclosed secret spaces for intimate dining. This restaurant lives up to its name and will be a place to remember.
MMAC Design has called upon Sebastien Flamant, up and coming French designer, to collaborate on the restaurant collection. His creation for ‘Le Mer’ is inspired by the classic conch shell inviting diners into a spiral shape cocoon to experience a fine dining seafood extravaganza at the culmination of the marina jetty. Levantine is Mediterranean with a casual vibe offering diners Lebanese flavors in a relaxed setting with a show kitchen, chef’s table, lounge area, pastry counter and bread oven wafting freshly cooked aromas throughout the space.
The team at MMAC completes their innovate designs with several pool bars exuding an urban, chic lounge mood, various carefree beach havens evoking the typical Australian surfer spot, an executive drawing room fit for dignitaries, a distinctive VIP rooftop majlis and a Bostonian sports bar providing for an extensive array of food & beverage selections.
Mr Merieau is well known in the region as the design stimulus behind many striking interiors such as the Hyatt Place resort in Taghezout, Morocco, the Luxury Collection in Aqaba, Jordan, the award-nominated Radisson Blu apartments in Riyahd, KSA and the pan asian restaurant at the Al Raha Beach extension in Abu Dhabi.
Mr Merieau is recognized as a trusted interior design partner for hospitality projects. This particularly complex and considerable project is on a remarkably tight deadline. Mr Merieau explained that the healthy collaboration between the team of architects, interior designers, landscaping specialists, project managers, operator and client has allowed for quick delivery and rapid turnaround when incorporating comments.
“All the consultants have been required to keep a sharp focus for this fast-tracked project creating a strong common desire to succeed,” commented the project director.
“In particular, MMAC Design was able to demonstrate its youthful energy, exemplary respect for deadlines, clear process management and immense creative talent.”
