NCSI conducts Investment Climate Survey

The National Centre for Statistics and Information is conducting and Investment Climate Survey in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Planning and The World Bank. The NCSI survey which started on Sunday 19th June aims to providing statistically robust business environment indicators that are comparable with all of the world‘s economies. It will also assess the constraints to private sector growth and enterprise performance, while the survey outcomes will form the baseline data that will make it possible to track changes in the business environment over time. This will allow impact assessments of reforms and policy changes as well as stimulating policy dialogue on the business environment and to help shape the agenda for future reforms.

Commenting on the importance of the survey, Khalid Al-Mudhafar Acting Director General of Economic Statistics said: “The Investment Climate Survey is one of the most important economic surveys which are conducted around the world. Most of the developed countries conduct such surveys to understand the challenges and difficulties faced by investors within different fields. The outcomes will result in robust data, which will assist decisions makers formulate future policy which will reflected positively on economic growth in the sultanate. The survey will establish clear parameters of the current economy reality in Oman, enabling economy policy makers to take the necessary actions in guiding the future direction and growth of the various economic sectors to achieve economic stability and sustainability. Officials and investors will also benefit from the results.”

The Investment Survey is a filed survey covering a sample of 500 establishments. The survey will be conducted during the period 19th June to the second week of October.
