According to a report by Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the country’s inflation rate rose 0.73% in March 2014, compared with the same period a year earlier, Muscat Daily has reported. Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages during the month rose by 2.42%, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels grew by 1.38%. Education costs recorded the highest increase of 6.24%, the report said. Hotel and restaurant costs increased by 1.25%, while furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance grew by 1.44%. In addition, clothing and footwear grew by 0.34%, health costs by 3.51% and recreation and culture costs by 0.48%.
