The organizing committee for OPEX 2014 has begun the countdown to next month’s local products exhibition in Dubai. The committee consisting of Ithraa, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) and Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI) met with Omani exhibitors this week to ensure that all operational, logistical and other support services are on track.

Held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, OPEX 2014 will offer Omani companies the opportunity to showcase their products and strengthen business and trade relations with the UAE. The exhibition will include a wide range of goods, including food and beverages, textiles, garments and furniture to minerals and metals, equipment and construction.

Fahmi Al Hinai, Deputy Chairman of the OPEX Organizing Committee said, “OPEX 2014 is the largest Omani products exhibition to date with 75 companies already confirmed. We are using every possible resource to ensure we successfully promote Oman-made goods to the UAE market. In fact, we have engaged international trade representatives from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Oman Trade Office and the Omani Embassy to help us promote the show and maximize the impact of the exhibition.”

He went on to say, “OPEX 2014 is the ideal platform to showcase the quality and diversity of Omani products, as well as the international standards that our products now exceed. With one month to go, I would strongly recommend Omani companies to consider participating at this prestigious show.”

OPEX 2014 will be managed by Dubai based INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions who presented an update on the preparations including how the new website will connect interested visitors with Omani exhibitors participating at the event. Companies can register at www.omaniproductexpo.com to view the Omani companies involved with the show and view the agenda in order to arrange B-2-B meetings.

Nader Muqbel, INDEX Media and Marketing Manager remarked, “The Omani Products Exhibition is considered a great opportunity for Emirati Companies seeking to explore the Omani market. Being held in Dubai, OPEX is expected to see great success as Dubai has become the region’s main business hub and gateway to international trade, allowing participating companies to expand in a very strong global market.”

He added, “From our side, we have launched an extensive media and marketing campaign targeting different local and international businesses in Dubai to promote and raise awareness about the importance of the exhibition. We are working on attracting local and international businessman to explore the Omani market, and we are expecting more than 5000 visitors during the three-day event.”

Non-oil trade between Oman and the United Arab Emirates rose by nearly 20% in 2013 reaching OMR 658 million, up from OMR 550 million in 2012. OPEX 2014 is set to be the largest of the three events to date which have already seen 75 per cent of exhibitors at the past two OPEX exhibitions, held in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, secure new contracts and partnerships with international importers.
