After garnering much attention for its success last year, Roudha Center’s Mashroui program is back for a second year. On Tuesday, Roudha Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation announced its partnership with ExxonMobil Qatar to launch this year’s Mashroui Program.
Mashroui, which means ‘my business’ in Arabic, is Qatar’s first and only women’s entrepreneurship development program. The program is a free, three-month program that teaches current and aspiring women entrepreneurs the A-Z’s of how to create and develop a successful business. Delivered by accomplished business consultants and lecturers from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the courses have been tailored to produce a profound learning experience and to speak to the needs and challenges of women entrepreneurs in Qatar. In addition, guest speakers from the local business community will visit the sessions to discuss topics such as time management skills and corporate law in Qatar.
“Mashroui is a one of a kind program being delivered in this region, empowering the women of Qatar to realize their potential and in turn contribute directly to the country’s economy. We are delighted to, once again, find a partner in ExxonMobil who shares our same commitment to empowering women with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their dreams,” said Shareefa Fadhel, Roudha Center’s co-founder and managing director.
“ExxonMobil Qatar is extremely pleased to be part of Mashroui, and to support Roudha Center for the second year of this program that advances women’s participation in Qatar’s economy. Their participation transpires into more prosperous communities, both socially and economically,” said Abdullatif Al Naemi, National Development Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. “At ExxonMobil, we believe in supporting programs such as Mashroui, which encourage women to embrace entrepreneurship, and in line with the National Vision 2030, foster the human ingenuity needed to make this vision a reality.”
Last year’s Mashroui program graduated thirty women after a six-month program in a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Doha. In attendance were program participants and their families, members of the press, and distinguished members of the community including, United States Ambassador Susan Ziadeh, Roudha Center Chairperson Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al-Thani, and Vice President of ExxonMobil Qatar Alistair Routledge. Many of the graduating women have since gone on to start their own businesses or expand their existing ones.
Roudha Center has reached over 4,500 women through its entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership programs, empowering women with the confidence, skills, and ambition they need to succeed in the world of entrepreneurship.
ExxonMobil Qatar strongly supports women empowerment programs as part of its community investments in Qatar. Its participation in the Mashroui program stems from the company’s commitment to support the State of Qatar in realizing its National Vision 2030 – particularly its Social Development Pillar, which focuses on enhancing women’s capabilities and empowering them to fully participate in the economic and political spheres of society. By helping to strengthen and develop Qatar’s current and future workforce, ExxonMobil Qatar strives to develop a constant resource of prepared, skilled, and motivated professionals who can carry Qatar into the future. Small and medium-sized enterprises in Qatar will have a positive long-term impact on the economy, as they serve as a building block in the larger value chain of companies, industries and sectors. The participation of women as entrepreneurs is essential in this process, and programs such as Mashroui, which encourage their involvement, will lead to sustainable and long-term benefits for the local community.
