Analytics powerhouse SAS was named as leader in agile business intelligence by Forrester Research Inc. and ranked No. 1 advanced and predictive analytics provider by IDC.
SAS was evaluated among other companies in The Forrester Wave: Agile Business Intelligence Platforms, Q3 2014: The 16 Providers That Matter Most and How They Stack Up and the IDC’s Worldwide Advanced and Predictive Analytics Software 2014–2018 Forecast and 2013 Vendor Shares report, which were both published recently.
“These rankings demonstrate SAS’ continuous thrive for innovation and commitment to our customers and the Middle East region, where we have been present for over 30 years. We have seen an increase in the uptake of analytics solutions in the Middle East, with more and more companies adopting analytics to enable them to predict their business needs and make better informed decisions,” said Carel Badenhorst, Head Technology Practice, Middle East & Africa, Turkey and Pakistan, SAS.
The Forrester Research Inc. report positions SAS as a leader, with a market presence score of 5.00 out of a maximum 5.00. The SAS strategy score was the highest of all competitors at 4.90. The Forrester analysis noted, “SAS has grown mostly organically, so its architecture is more seamlessly integrated and allows for more reuse of components than competition, which grew by acquisitions.”
According to the Forrester report: SAS, a known leader in enterprise BI and advanced analytics, now leads the pack in Agile BI. SAS products evaluated in this research – Visual Analytics, Enterprise BI Server and Office Analytics – received top scores for the features technology professionals need to enable business user BI self-service, business user capabilities to provision their own BI applications and data, as well as the effectiveness of its ADV (agile data visualization) functionality.
“Forrester also scored SAS highly for the business user capabilities to perform data integration tasks within the BI tool. SAS received high client feedback scores for its agile business user self-service and ADV functionality. Clients also gave SAS a high score for its product vision,” Forrester said.
“As we continue to invest heavily in research and development every year – last year it was 25 percent of revenue – SAS has the strength to provide innovative BI platforms, as well as analytics and data management software that help our customers make data-driven decisions,” said Jim Davis, SAS Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Our flagship data visualization package, SAS Visual Analytics, is a great example of our robust strategy and execution producing a simple-to-use but powerful software,” he added.
On the other hand, IDC also identified SAS as the top supplier, owning 35.4 percent market share of the 2013 advanced and predictive analytics market, more than twice that of the next-closest competitor. In addition, the IDC report ranked SAS among the top five providers with the highest growth rates in advanced and predictive analytics software.
