Oman to conduct clinical audit

: Tuesday, June 03 - 2014 @ 01:40

Oman’s health ministry plans to conduct a clinical audit of private hospitals and clinics to verify whether patients received medication appropriate to their clinical needs and in the right doses for an adequate period of time and at the lowest cost, Muscat Daily has reported. “We will go to hospitals and screen files of patients. We will check details such as the patient’s history, his/her ailment and the medications that were prescribed,” said head of the ministry’s Directorate of Rational Use of Medicine, Dr Batool Jaffer Suleiman. “This auditing is not being done because of any specific complaint that has come up against private sector hospitals. The ministry aims to see that all patients, Omanis and expatriates, have the best healthcare.”
