Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has received a high level delegation consisting of healthcare providers and companies from the Northern German States. The delegation, which was led by HE Elke Badde, Undersecretary of Health and Consumer Protection, Hamburg, was welcomed by HE Abdulla Al Mahyan, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority and Sharjah Healthcare City.
During the visit HE Abdulla Al Mahyan and Dr Abdelaziz Al Mehiri, Director General of the SHA, discussed various avenues of cooperation in the field of healthcare with HE Elke Badde. In addition, the parties also explored the possibility of entering into a Joint Declaration of Cooperation in the near future.
Speaking about the visit, HE Abdulla Al Mahyan said, “Sharjah is, under the wise directives and close follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, working proactively to establish itself as the preferred healthcare destination, both in the Emirates and the region, which is why visits such as this one are so important. Our aim is to provide the highest and most advanced levels of medical care available in the region, making collaborations with companies from Germany, a country that is renowned world wide for the standard of its healthcare, a high priority.”
“Meetings such as this one not only allow for the chance to promote the many advantages that Sharjah offers companies and investors who decide to operate here, but also facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience, both of which are vital elements in creating a progressive and sustainable healthcare sector in Sharjah.” Al Mhayan added.
The visit formed part of the Authority’s continuous efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in the field of healthcare between Sharjah and Germany and followed by the recent Sharjah Healthcare City – Hamburg and Northern German States Business Roundtable, during which Sharjah Healthcare City (SHCC) had taken the opportunity to give an overview of the Sharjah Healthcare City as well as the wide range of investment opportunities that the project will offer German companies operating in the healthcare sector.
HE Al Mahyan remarked that a large number of German healthcare service companies have already shown strong interest the numerous features and incentives offered to foreign healthcare investors by the Sharjah Healthcare City project.
