Jannah Hotels and Resorts is planning to set up a new resort in Abu Dhabi comprising 213 suites, swimming pools, a massive sport centre and a shopping centre, its chief executive officer has said.
Nehme Darwiche said the project would give a strong push to the tourism sector in the emirate, adding that it follows strong performance by Jannah, which has achieved an occupancy rate of 73 per cent since it was opened on Abu Dhabi Al Qarm coast in the third quarter of 2013.
He said hotel apartments have become the best choice for tourists in that area and that demand for such facilities has been on the rise by many visitors, including individuals, families, businessmen and companies.
“This has prompted Jannah to opt for suites and hotel apartments which have much more than normal hotel rooms given their spacious area, the presence of a kitchen and other facilities and their competitive prices…this is tempting many tourists and visitors to come to us,” he said.
He expected the occupancy rate to increase further this year because of the various facilities and services provided by Jannah and the expected rise in tourists and visitors coming for conferences and exhibitions in the UAE.
“while some hotels in Abu Dhabi have suffered from a decline in occupancy rates, we have succeeded in achieving record high rates…we are now making serious efforts not only to maintain those rates but to achieve higher rates….the facilities and services we offer will enable us to attain this target,” he said.
Darwiche said he saw a need for more hotel projects in the country, mainly hotel apartments on the grounds tourists are increasingly favouring apartments.
He revealed that Jannah residential suites on Al Qarm is planning to open six new restaurants and that the hotel’s marina project has just been launched.
