The Sablah Communication Gathering aims at breaking the barriers between all staff in a workplace and engraving the values of communication in addition to developing a healthy work-like balance.
Held on September 26th at the Intercontinental Hotel, the Haya Water Sablah was one of two which are planned to be conducted on an annual basis. These will ensure that the Haya Water values are imbibed within the organization as a team, and into the community.
Haya Water’s CEO Eng. Hussain AbdulHussain delivered the keynote presentation, which reflected on the great strides already made by Haya Water and the important role every staff member plays in being a brand ambassador for Haya Water in their local community.
Eng. Hussain AbdulHussain, CEO Haya Water, said, “The genesis of the Sablah Communication Gathering was derived from the tradition which reflects the interdependence between all members of community. Among our achievements in the last year we were able to put an end for the nuisance of mal-odours coming from Al Ansab STP, and achieve 100% compliance to Ministry of Environment regulations.”
He also added, “The work at Water Reuse projects are going as per schedule. We are fast progressing towards our target to connect at least 80% of the residential properties by the year 2018 as well as link more than 20,000 by fiber optic cables.”
Participants were also given an overview of the current and future projects undertaken by Haya Water in the Muscat Governorate in addition to updates from major departments within the company.
Commenting on the event, Eng. Salim Al Rubkhy, Acting Human Resources General Manager, Haya Water said, “At Haya Water, we constantly strive to ensure that our employees are updated on the current happenings within the company. Among a variety of other programmes which help develop the skills of our staff, we are particularly proud of this communication gathering. It helps us to congregate, and share thoughts and ideas to make working at Haya Water a better experience.”
Employee relations were given paramount importance with an aim to serve employees better and act as a focal point for all Human Resources related issues. Eng. Salim Al Rubkhy also mentioned that Haya Water has appointed Ewan Hurwitz to work on the Talent Management Framework in a project will commence from October 2012 until March 2013.
As a part of this framework, a more rigorous Omanisation plan is also being put into place. He added that initiatives such as this gathering will enhance staff motivation levels which will in turn lead to better results and improved productivity. It is towards this objective that the Human Resources policies have been reviewed and updated.
The presentation was followed by Sheikh Khalfan Al Eisry, an influential speaker and executive coach with extensive knowledge of multicultural management and organisational culture. The staff also engaged in workshops built around various themes such as an ice-breaking session, interactive Q&A with the CEO, discussions about work life balance & time management and creating the optimum work environment.
Haya Water was created in December 2002 with the purpose to build and operate a world class water reuse system in Muscat. Completing over a decade of successful roll-out in the capital, the company has been crucial is providing enormous benefits through long-term infrastructure to families, individuals and businesses across Muscat, and continues to perform seamlessly.
