: Wednesday, April 09 - 2014 @ 15:41

InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected healthcare, will showcase its healthcare solutions and technology at the Ministry of Health and HIMSS Middle East Conference in Jeddah. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Change Management and Strategic Interoperability’ and will take place at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel in Jeddah on 13-14 of April.

InterSystems will be demonstrating InterSystems TrakCare, the Internet-based unified health information system, which provides hospitals with a ‘one patient, one record’ solution. According to KLAS, an independent research firm, TrakCare is the fastest growing electronic medical record (EMR) solution worldwide ‘Source: “Global EMR Market Share,” by Chris Brown, KLAS, April 2014′.

InterSystems will also be showcasing its health informatics platform, InterSystems HealthShare. HealthShare enables strategic interoperability across a hospital network, a regional healthcare system, or an entire nation, connecting hospitals, clinics, labs, clinicians, patients, and all other facets of the care delivery spectrum.

As a diamond sponsor of the event, InterSystems will be demonstrating live modules on analytics and clinical and medication management through a number of IT stations and a dedicated presentation area. InterSystems will also participate in the HIMSS ‘Interoperability Showcase’, an interactive environment where attendees can “become the patient” in a clinical scenario and watch their health data move from system to system.

Joe DeSantis, Vice President of HealthShare Platforms at InterSystems, will present on the topic of ‘Strategic Interoperability and Connecting Healthcare within Hospitals, Regions, and Nations’ on 13 April at 12:25 pm.

InterSystems has expanded in the Middle East in response to the growing demand for connected healthcare in the region. The Saudi Ministry of Health has encouraged major healthcare providers to embrace electronic health information systems.

The Saudi Arabia conference comes just a few months after InterSystems held a two-day conference at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). Senior health officials from Saudi Arabia and other healthcare leaders across the Middle East and Asia Pacific region met to learn and share their experiences and best practices. The seminar examined the latest global trends for healthcare information systems and reiterated the case for early adoption of EMRs.

“According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, by 2020 the GCC [Gulf Cooperation Council] population will have grown by 18 million or 30% since 2000, and nearly half of those people will be expatriates. With such a young and transient population, the region’s heath authorities realize the operational and financial benefits of connected healthcare and EMRs,” said Michel Amous, Country Manager, InterSystems Middle East and India.

“Governments in the Middle East are making significant investments in the expansion of patient services, including the construction of many new hospitals. As healthcare expands, it faces the challenge of implementing and connecting a range of new and old systems in many facilities. To see them through this long journey, governments, hospitals and clinics all need a strong partner that can support them for many years. InterSystems is taking a long-term approach through our own investment plan in technology and customer partnership,” said Steve Garrington, Vice President for International Business at InterSystems.
