Tadrib.ae sees school education sector of its business bloom in 2009

United Arab Emirates: Saturday, November 21 - 2009 @ 16:30

Tadrib.ae has seen such interest in its adventure based learning courses for school students aged 8 years and up, that for the 2009/2010 school terms the centre is fully booked.

Schools can take advantage of residential and day courses at the centre, with students experiencing great adventure learning including rock climbing, raft building & kayaking, survival craft and understanding comrade-ship working in teams. Many activities take place above ground and are performed safely under instruction from the fully qualified professional training staff.

The emphasis is on fun for the kids and providing a great escape from the classroom but with a solid base of learning woven in to the activities to aid in the student’s development.

George Duncan, Tadrib.ae General Manager, said:

“These courses for school kids are hugely popular – they get to leave the school, come to the desert away from the usual surroundings and be outside.”

“The kids love the activities – it’s challenging, with an opportunity to do physical learning while helping them bond, aiding problem solving ability and approaching tasks in a number of ways, while also developing their character and behavioural approach to things which will help them later in life,” he explained.

“The fact we’re fully booked until the start of summer 2010 – with a course every day – shows how important schools view alternative learning, with these activities and programmes having been established overseas and been proven as a solid learning tool,” he added.

Courses can be run over a day or residential, with Al Fal’a Camp offering both air-conditioned traditional cabins and approved environmental tents, plus there’s an indoor classroom, a majlis tent and even a camp fire surround for that authentic experience.

“Based on how quickly all the available days were booked this year, we fully anticipate the next academic year to be just as busy,” said Mr Duncan.

“We’re even looking at the possibility of summer camps so parents can have their kids learning these type of skills over the summer break – I guess it’ll take the heat off the parents for a while!” he added.

Al Fal’a camp is one of two offsite centres owned and operated by Tadrib.ae, with the other – the Al See’h Retreat – covering 50 acres and consisting of 20 traditionally styled air-conditioned cabins, a large traditional barasti, diwan, majlis, a dining room, swimming pool and a high ropes course.

As well as school groups, Tadrib.ae caters for corporate clients who use the facilities for team building, strategic meeting and staff social gatherings, all in a different surrounding. The camp is available for private hire over the weekend as well, offering a private retreat for any occasion, with a full catering option available.
