According to new figures from IDC for the first quarter of 2005 for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) which reveal an increased UAE market share of 74.7 percent and growth of 112.8 percent since last year and similar growth across the Middle East region. Reinforcing its strong hold across the Enterprise sector, HP announces a record quarter for its Storage business and solid growth in the BSC market.
Commenting on the IDC figures, Martyn Molnar, Enterprise Storage & Servers Business Manager, HP Middle East said, “I believe much of our success lies in the fact that we are able to deliver strong products and a wide range of services portfolio. We have driven towards more focused engagement in Key Accounts and created a more balanced portfolio, with the result that our customer base has never been stronger in the Enterprise sector. We firmly believe that the future will bring even greater growth numbers throughout the region, and our commitment to our customers will remain as powerful as it is today.”
Speaking about the triple-digit growth and market share results for servers, Molnar elaborated “In the Middle East, our market share for the UAE and KSA is over 70 percent for our HP ProLiant Server units. This dominant market share extends throughout the “Rest of the Middle East” and Egypt, with numbers over 22 percent and 46 percent respectively. ” This is a sign of how much Customers in the Middle East have come to trust HP ProLiant products for their value and reliability in deploying Servers for Infrastructures.”
“The addition of Opteron based systems to the ProLiant lineup has helped us in addressing incremental segments such as HPC, developer communities and environments that need compute intensive solutions. The BladeSystem Portfolio now has specific additions that make this a viable and affordable solution for SMBs, and the addition of Dual-core systems in the mid-range segment now provide greater compute power for larger organizations. All of these innovations in product introductions have contributed in no small way to the results we now see.”
Unit shipments have also soared this quarter, with shipments increasing by 57 percent year-on-year and setting new highs for EVA shipments in the Middle East. “Our Best in Class Performance has led many customers to choose HP products that offer superior consolidation solution capabilities. HP is proving to be a leader in Performance, Expandability and Interoperability in the storage space, which has helped us grow our numbers during the past year,” he elaborated.
Molnar also commented on BCS growth across Alpha, Unix and Non Stop Platforms: “We have seen a significant BCS growth of 28 percent year-on-year; we have been able to outpace the market competition and have secured record order levels this quarter,” He further explains “This growth can be attributed to the increased demand in Itanium Server Technology, which delivers strong performance and functionality and is supported by the world’s largest technology players. HP and Intel have the technology balance that best delivers the business requirements from the infrastructure investments.
“The increased demand by ISVs is being driven by a superior road map and strong competitive strategies. These features give the customer a level of comfort that they are not dealing with niche players,” adds Molnar.
Speaking about HP’s future plans in the region, Molnar elaborates “Moving forward, attracting solution partnerships is our main focus. We have the broadest portfolio of IT products and solutions on the market and the largest regional presence to deliver within the Middle East. We have some excellent partnerships to date, which we will continue to develop, but our focus is on developing new HP relationships and joint Go To Market (GTM) strategies that can deliver true value for the customer. We plan on announcing a series of high profile customer wins in the near future, further demonstrating HP’s commitment to the region.”
This excellent partnership initiative was recently demonstrated with HP’s signings with the Central Bank of Oman as well as Umniah Mobile Company of Jordan, where HP provided the IT infrastructure and expertise to both companies.
