The bank has also upgraded its mobile banking app which is available for Android powered devices. With its new look and feel and simplified navigation, the new app allows customers’ funds transfer facilities between their HSBC accounts, in addition to a better user experience.
The app also allows customers to view their accounts and card balances as well as transaction details, check exchange rates and deposit rates, view special offers and account history. The Secure Key device is small and lightweight enough to keep in customer’s wallet or purse, enabling them to carry out their banking transactions wherever and whenever they like. By generating a unique code every time, this additional security means customers can be confident that they are the only people accessing their accounts.
Jarman added, “In 2012, direct costs associated with global consumer cybercrime touched $110bn according to Norton. As the Sultanate becomes more and more financially attractive, banks must do all they can to safeguard their customers against the risk of growing cybercrime, especially with the increasing popularity of internet and mobile banking applications. Secure Key is provided to customers free of charge and enables them to conduct their online banking with greater security and confidence.”
