Huawei—a leading global information & communication technology (ICT) solutions provider—has welcomed representatives from the government and private sector to preview how organizations in Bahrain can benefit through new advancements in IT “cloud” technology now being made available in the region.
Many of the world’s most advanced IT cloud products and solutions will in fact be showcased this month during a Huawei Cloud Innovation Road Show which has kicked off in Manama at the Crowne Plaza Hotel this week.
Mr. Li Han, General Manager of Huawei Bahrain, noted: “Communities across the globe are entering into a new era of in-depth integration of the digital and physical worlds. Our aim is to help make IT simple and make business more agile. By welcoming entities from across the Kingdom and working with leaders from the local telecommunications industry, we are committed to helping organizations better understand the challenges—and more importantly the opportunities—to develop cloud offerings in building their competitive advantage.”
With significantly more electronic data being generated today in Bahrain compared with 10 years ago, Huawei recognizes that much of the technology deployed by businesses previously was not designed to cope with the size and variety of data that exists today. Research from market intelligence firm IDC has noted that the development of public and private clouds was ranked as top among priorities for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in the Middle East in 2013, with 57% of CIOs rating cloud among their top IT priorities .
One of the highlights of the Huawei road show will be a Huawei Demo Truck which gives visitors the opportunity to experience firsthand the latest innovations in data center solutions, virtual servers & desktops, plus a wide range of vertical industry solutions. That includes access to a fully-functional Huawei X8000 server that can integrate computing, networking, storage, and uses a central power supply to ultimately help reduce costs and increase business flexibility for future data needs.
Huawei also presented a super-fast Micro DC solution that is designed for communication companies and subsidiary management companies. A first for the Bahraini market, Huawei representatives demonstrated how the product is perfect for organizations that have several branches by offering a completed pack of integrated computing services.
The company further introduced the biggest cloud data center in Bahrain aimed at serving the fast-growing telecommunications industry. Huawei has stressed the center’s ability to unify solutions for the business sector in Bahrain, which is also witnessing increasing needs in the IT sector.
Huawei is currently one of the leading pioneers within Bahrain’s ICT sector providing the most comprehensive IT portfolio in the industry to customers in the telecom, enterprise, and consumer space. Huawei has been in Bahrain for nearly 15 years and houses the company’s Middle East regional headquarters.
