The new branches establish Naqsh Gallery as one of the most prominent art galleries in the Kingdom, and affirm its role as a leading art provocateur in the region.
Mohamad Maskati, Naqsh Gallery founder, states the significance of the event, “Along with the opening of our new branches in Al A’ali Mall and in other locations outside the Kingdom, we offer people a new experience… the ‘reinvention of art’.”
The highlight of the launch is an exhibit featuring selected works on print by three of the gallery’s resident artists including Ali Al Kufi, Hiba Nasser and Mohammad Kamel.
The styling of the gallery itself is a work of art. Taking inspiration from the architecture of traditional Gulf houses, it integrates indigenous elements seamlessly with contemporary design. The sleek finish of concrete and glass is combined with the rustic feel of wooden engravings. And full-length traditional lamps suspended from the dome ceiling enrich the ethnic Arabic ambience.
The ‘freshness of the concept’ continues to draw the attention of art aficionados and the general public, and compels gallery guests to explore every corner of the art space.
An adjacent coffee shop serves a variety of traditional and ‘house special’ coffee blends and pastries. Alongside it is a mini-display with a variety of novelty arts and crafts.
Mohamad Maskati ends, “We are fast-tracking the completion of our galleries in Saudi Arabia… we want to be a vital player in this great period of advancements in art and culture in the region.”
