“We recently noticed a significant shift in urban planning and development in the form of a revived global commitment to people and their communities. The latest focus is on enhancing the ‘livability’ of a city space. The economic crisis has further triggered this shift. Cities around the world are now faced with the challenge of driving sustainability and economic growth forward.” explained Naseba’s Group Managing Director, Fabien Faure.
Hosting the summit in Doha – the capital of Qatar – was a strategic decision made by the summit’s organiser.
“Nations in the Middle East are closely following the international trend of building and developing livable cities. With its 2030 National Vision, Qatar has successfully followed the lead and has already shown tremendous results in terms of economic and social development, making it the ideal location for such a summit. We welcome the endorsement of the Summit by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning and thank them for supporting our initiative,” continued Faure.
The Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning, H.E. Abdulrahman Bin Khalifa A. Al Thani was quoted as saying, “The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning of Qatar is proud to endorse the Humanisation of Cities of Tomorrow Summit and reaffirm Doha’s commitment to creating livable communities of the future. We look forward to welcoming regional and international leaders driving urban progression and sustainable development.”
The Summit aims to create a global knowledge-sharing platform to support, recognise and encourage projects that address the various needs of the community and shape the future success of leading global cities. Private and public sectors will gather for a high level of discussions, debates and business opportunities. Industry-renowned speakers will talk about the pillars of sustainable city expansion in panel discussions about urban planning excellence, economic, social, sustainable, and human development.
