NAS sponsors international ground handling conference in Morocco

Kuwait: Tuesday, December 04 - 2007 @ 13:19

Organized by Ground Handling International, the world’s leading aviation related publication, the conference was strictly “by invitation only” and brought together the most influential figures from the world of aviation to discuss this year’s theme – Partnering for Profitability.

NAS, being a silver sponsor of the event enjoyed special coverage during the entire conference and was ably represented by Mr. Adel Al-Askar, Business Development Director.

“This is an excellent forum to exchange views and ideas on the industry” said Mr. Al-Askar commenting on the conference. “It gives us an opportunity to discuss various topics right from ramp safety to cost cutting for airlines and handling service providers which has become a big topic for debates within the industry lately.”

“From a ground handler’s point of view, we were keenly interested in the industry’s acceptance of the restricted luggage allowance schemes and the introduction of comprehensive handling packages to airlines in order to enable more cost reduction without compromising on service” he continued.

“As stakeholders of the Kuwait International Airport, it is imperative that we keep ourselves informed of the latest developments within the industry in all ways possible and this means technological as well as economic and political advancements that can give us an edge and will ultimately benefit our airline customers and passengers,” he concluded.

Aimed at the senior members of the ground handling, airline and airport sectors, the conference was also attended by executives employed by civil aviation authorities and those involved in the manufacturing sector. The two days of papers presented by key industry figures was supplemented by an open industry discussion.

This year the format changed slightly: in response to popular demand, on the second morning featured a parallel session devoted to the cargo sector, thereby giving delegates even more choice of topics to attend. Delegates also attended the Ramp Safety Awards Ceremony during the Gala Dinner, which has become a highlight of the whole event.

Next year’s event is scheduled to be held with even greater participation from airlines, airports and other aviation related authorities with its theme: Growing the handling – handling the growth.
