The event at Al Bustan Palace hotel, took place to recognise the Omanisation efforts of leading private sector companies and organisations. A large number of dignitaries joined the business community on this special occasion.
Nawras was thrilled to be given a certificate of appreciation together with an eye-catching trophy from the Ministry of Manpower, in recognition of the strategy and practices on Omanisation in place at this award-winning company.
Mohammed Rabia Al-Ghailani, chief people officer, received the acknowledgement on behalf Nawras.
“Nawras considers Omanisation as one of the most important strategies in the company. We give priority to Omani employees for every vacancy that arises. Nawras also motivates its people by developing and training Omanis to take on more responsible positions which in turn gives them greater qualifications and raises their levels of proficiency and expertise.”
Al-Ghailani added, “Nawras has professional training programmes to improve knowledge and skills through courses, conferences, debates and so on. The working environment at Nawras fosters the interweaving of valuable national manpower with professional international expertise, all of which supports our Omanisation commitment.”
Back in 2005 Nawras launched with just 250 enthusiastic people, the majority of whom had no mobile company experience whatsoever. In contrast, today Nawras directly employs over 650 professionals who are living the customer experience every day. Through the consistent development of people and by constantly investing in its talent pool, Nawras now has some of the finest telecom professionals to be found anywhere.
Nawras has also contributed indirectly to the creation of many other Omani job opportunities in the Sultanate, not least through its mushrooming indirect sales channels serving customers all over the country. Over 1000 points of sale for Nawras products and services provide convenience for customers which in turn help in supporting a multitude of small businesses countrywide.
The winning combination of the Qtel Group’s global telecommunications expertise together with valuable local culture and knowledge means Omani employees at Nawras are able to serve customers in a pleasingly different way with excellent quality. At the same time Nawras employees are progressing personally by gaining new skills and qualifications as they advance along their chosen career path. This supports the Nawras mission to be the best communications provider and employer of choice in Oman.
Nawras currently covers 96% of the population with its reliable EDGE network and over 40% with its trusted 3G+ network.
