The statement came at a press conference held in Riyadh yesterday (December 18, 2002) to launch McAfee’s new range of anti-virus products in Saudi Arabia, as part of its regional expansion plan. McAfee claimed that the increasing commonality of virus attacks and hacking exposes businesses to great dangers, the results of which could prove to be disastrous.

“The repercussions of a serious hacking experience often go beyond financial losses and bring businesses to a complete halt, from which total recovery could take several months. The only solution to this is precautionary measures in the form of anti-virus software developed by experts who are conversant with the virus scenario,” said Abdulrahman Gorashi, Channel and Distribution Manager, Middle East, Network Associates, the parent company of McAfee, which serves the Gulf market through its regional office at Dubai Internet City. “McAfee has been a pioneer in this field and our latest range of security software is now available across the Gulf. By enhancing its presence in the region, McAfee is offering Gulf businesses the most reliable anti virus software available anywhere.”

“The widespread damage that viruses can do has been demonstrated several times in recent years and no computer ot IT system is safe from such malicious viruses,” said Angelo Baltzan, Regional Director Network Associates. “McAfee, as the market leader in anti-virus and privacy protection software, has developed a wide range of anti-virus solutions to offer proven security systems to the personal, home office and small business computing markets.”
